This was posted on other sites and i do believe here as well in the Hawthoff ? .Anyway its on it way to good progress ,collected and potted upright into a 400mm plastic pot . I repotted it last winter into a 700mm x 500mm Bonsai dish . I didn't have time to carve it so i will be done after the growing season is over Cheers Alpineart

Hi Bodhi , i know how bring them back from dormancy years after collecting so hopefully this will one day flower .I have several thorns but this 1 will be pinched every 2-3 leaves where as the others are allowed to grow and are cut back .Either way sooner or later 1 has to flower .I have a couple of other method to persuade them that i'm trialing , can only but try to mimic nature .Cheers Alpine

About the flowering, I'm no expert, but I was told to put blood and bone on it when the new leaves should be forming, a couple of weeks before spring, either that or just before it drops its leaves in autumn. Anyway it was definitely blood and bone, but i'm not entirely sure when. Sorry. Never tried it with mine, but that's what I was told when i bought it.

Alpineart - may I suggest you invest in a product called "bloom booster". I use it on my Hawthornes and they flower, not all over as yet but this product does appear to very helpful. I apply from end of February until the leaves drop, and at the recommended rate.
This year all my Hawthornes that have been out of the ground for more than a couple of years did flower (I did take some photos but I was too close - I need a real camera!) and they will subsequently fruit as well.
PS - keep this a secret - I don't want everyone to know!!!!

And along side the road.............. and along the irrigation ditches........................... and in the towns streets.............. and just about everywhere else a plant is able to grow. Lucky B........... people
By the way, if anyone is ever in Sale there are a few in one of the Dairy Farm irrigation ditches that have been pruned and root trained if your looking for some.
