This is a small saw that is very useful removing small branches in tight places on a bonsai. It's neat size gets it to locations that a larger saw can't manage.

Does a plaster saw use a pull or push action to cut?

Not sure actually. I started to get one and decided that $21 or $24 for the little critter was excessive to the need in my bonsaiiery. Considering the size of branches you would be removing I don't think it would be a problem either way.

Good tip. I have a good Korean folding saw but it's a bit limiting in its use, especially for carving work on the branch stups on my big Bougainvillea. I never thought of using a plasterer's "butter saw", as they call them in the trade, here in SE Qld.

The plaster saw I have cuts both ways, I wouldn't recommend it to cut branches, also its not cheap, but I have purchased many moons ago, a rather cheap plaster saw from bunnings???? at about the $10 mark maybe. It cuts by push, has a thinner blade and would be more suited, still its more of a rip saw than a fine toothed saw, but will do the job cheaply.
