Well I had my first bonsai workshop yesterday and it was great. It was very informative and I learned alot. Tony is a really nice guy and explains things very easily and thoroughly I think everyone is looking forward to today.
He worked on one of Normas' (host) huge trees and he wants to do a story on it so I wont post any photos and spoil it for him. He liked the tree so much he wants it left to him in her will  I've packed the car up with tools and a few trees to work on today, looks like rain but were under cover. Hopefully wont be as hot as yesterday :D
cheers Loretta

Good stuff Loretta :D

being part of workshops and clubs will definately help, I wish I could make it down to gympie more often, I beleive everyone gets something out of them, experienced or beginner alike :D

look forward to Mr. Bebbs progressive of the tree, which species is it?also remember to take before pics of the trees you work, it will definately help to keep a picture record of where you have started to where you are now and in the future.

jamie :D

You are very lucky Loretta Tony is one of Australia's best Bonsai artists. He has a wonderful way of making all of his students, be they newbies or old hands, feel at ease and comfortable.

He has a wonderful sense of humor as well as talent. Do not be afraid to ask questions of him he will answer them with all of his enthusiasm.

Have a wonderful day.
Cheers :) Pup

I second Pup's comments, Loretta. I've done a couple of workshops with Tony and will hopefully enjoy more.

Thank you all for your comments and yes it was a fabulous day. We all took trees to work on and I made a raft with a melaleuca, it's going to look great with more growth. I must agree with you Pup, Tony is a great teacher, he explains so thoroughly and you walk away knowing why you did a particular thing rather than wondering why you did it. And yes, he had us laughing all day, he's a very easy man to communicate with. A couple of the ladies I will admit brought ridiculous little trees that weren't even big enough to do anything with, but he took as much time with them and treated their trees with the same attention he gave everyone elses. No-one was left out in any shape or form.
I'll only tell you one thing Jamie, it was a fig (Normas tree) and it took Tony plus another one the guys to help as there was so much resistance.
Glenda and Penny, I'm glad you both also know what I'm talking about and I'm pretty sure he's coming back here next year.
I was invited out for dinner with them Saturday night but I couldn't go as I felt quite ill by mid afternoon. Today I made sure I took a water bottle and it was a different story, I felt fine all day. So Saturday I obviously allowed myself to become dehydrated. I wont be doing that again :?
cheers Loretta
