i think your restyle is much better than the original, those bar branches would of caused a prob, this one needs a lot of time to develop and hicken mate

brown brothers is 15 minutes from my house and they have converted me into a wine drinker ( sweet wines). your pine may never get large but your restyle is a big improvement . let it grow to get the bark flaking which will come with age and growth. Dont be worried about needle size etc for a long time.

Yeah, this one needs alot more time, which is fine. It's not going into a pot anytime soon. It's thickened a bit since getting it, and I'm in no hurry with it
I agree the current restyle is much better than the original. The foliage/branches are at different levels now.
ANd not too worries about needle size yet It's just growing on

The pine in the background was alittle radiata that is no longer with us
