sorry Nora i dont it was just a twin trunk from B!@@#*gs that i got for about $10 and had no idear what to do with it so thats how it ended

Hi Pat both trees are incorrectly potted. If you reversed the trees in that would be where they should sit. The prickly one is too far to the right and the windswept is too far to the left.

The branches on the prickly one need to come down more passed the parallel. to save my self a post ,I will say that your green island fig is in the wrong pot it is also if you want Bonsai, coming across the front of the pot which is Penjing.

looking much much better! not sure about the pot choices but that can be fixed later. the informal upright, i would chop the top off and using the fifth lot of foliage up from the bottom. (or the second down from the top ) and using that bit of foliage as the apex, it will look much cleaer and be a better balanced tree with out it. JMO anyways the windswept is in a better potting position too

Yep. Definitely better. I would also remove the second branch on the right of the informal tree or bend it towards the back.

Pat, the Windswept has been of concern to me all evening, I have been back to it repeatedly. I am not 100% sure what the concern is, but......

The problem is with the minor trunk and I think at last I have come to my conclusion, if I may. The new planting position is great now and the tree is in exactely the right spot. However I have some concerns with the top two branches on the #1 trunk, but that may only be a photo issue. However the minor truck is both to high and to heavy. I believe the tree would look better ballanced if you cut the entire apex off the minor tree, leaving the top branch as the new apex. That would both lighten and shorten the top of the tree.

Just my opinion and I would ask you to think long and hard before doing any cuts.

That's a lot better Pat, the main problem now with the informal is the branches do not match the tree.
If the trunk is curving the branches need to curve as well. Also if you put some curves in you can then bring it all in tighter. The apex is very pointed which is not the case with mature trees, so that has to be addressed as well.

I would let the tree rest for a couple of months though, as you have pruned wired and re potted, that has put a lot of stress on the tree.
