Open Day at Bonsai The Imagination Tree

Program Open Day 4 September 2010
•Pat Kennedy (Sydney) – Selling his handmade Bonsai pots and Ikebana vases (All Day)
•Brian Sampson (born 15 February 1941) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the VFL. Brian Sampson played in many positions during his time at Essendon and was particularly strong in the air. He debuted in 1959 and finished the year in their losing Grand Final side. His career was constantly interrupted by knee injuries but he was a member of Essendon's 1962 and 1965 premierships. In the 1965 decider he played in the forward pocket and contributed two goals. He joined WANFL club West Perth in 1967 and played 50 games, including a premiership in 1969. During his time in Western Australia he represented their interstate team. Brian started bonsai in 1980 and was taught by our own in house bonsai expert and teacher Maurice. Brian is an expert in Saikei and will perform a demo at this year Open Day at Bonsai The Imagination Tree ( 9.00am – 11.00am.)
•Maurice and Chris will conduct a Bonsai clinic from 11.00am-12.30pm .
•Shoso Shimbo – demonstration and exhibition of Sogetsu style Ikebana (1:00pm –1.30pm)
Shoso was selected by Belle magazine as “one of Australia’s top floral designers” and has won many awards including the Gold award at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Shoso is a certified teacher in the Sogetsu style of Ikebana and several of his students will also exhibit their work.
•Wadaiko Rindo – vibrant Japanese drumming performance (1.30pm – 2.00pm)
The performances of Wadaiko Rindo are spectacular visual displays of stamina, strength and humour, with the vibrations produced on stage energising the whole audience
•Maurice and Chris will conduct a Bonsai clinic from 2.30pm-4.00pm
