Unfortunately I had to work today and missed the critique, I managed to get a few pictures in the evening but many trees had gone home earlier.
If anybody has more pics I would love to see them

Agreed!
I hesitated coming down this year and definitely regret it, so I'll make the effort for next time!

This was a very good session, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Hiro critique these trees. Everything he said and the way he explained it was very good, he is a very good teacher and I can see why so many people speak so highly of him
The pic of the first tree only a small change was made and it made a noticeable difference immediately, he explained to us that the primary branch was too low on the trunk, and too long for a tall tree. the second branch was suggested to be longer. I think that pic already has the primary branch shortened and what was cut branch was placed at the tip of the right hand branch to make look like it was extended.
The Short JBP has bar branching and Hiro told us on a finished tree this was okay as it did not create reverse taper and he went further explaining how at the Kokufu there are many trees displayed with bar branches. Kinda wished I had asked more questions regarding this but I think it has to do with controlling and balancing the growth and sap of the tree. I think this tree it will have a different front which will reveal some very nice movement.
The JWP I think had some major flaws in the top branching and it will be worked on Sundays demo, I think it will be reduced in height somewhat, should be great to watch
