Winter is here too

The first cold morning for this winter here in North East Victoria.
As you can see I am happy for my trees to stay outside in our winters (Figs and other subtropicals in the unheated poly house). They have survived for more than 20 years and i expect them to survive a few more.
There was some speculation in Noah's thread about frozen soil causing trees to die. I have not had such experience here with temps down to -7C. Some cold climate growers report broken pots when the soil mass freezes and expands but it would have to be pretty cold.As you can see I am happy for my trees to stay outside in our winters (Figs and other subtropicals in the unheated poly house).
