G`day all I would like to share a juni a mate gave me about 4 months ago. He wasn`t able to look after it where he now lives , it was in poor condition when I recieved it. After some pruning, sunlight and a light fertilise started to recover. It has been repotted and wired twice I am happy with the direction it is heading, I am unsure if I will give it the regulation juniper dead wood at this stage. Ideas and other opinions are most welcome.

Thanks guys for your comments, Jamie you are welcome anytime . Thanks Antonio I had thoughts of adding deadwood the reason I haven`t is most of my junis have it and this would be something different. It does have very pronounced veins running up the trunk so your virt would look good, it would highlights these even more. Jarryd I enjoy it aswell this tree has been through the hands of 2 of my mates, I think this one would be around 20 yrs old. I love the taper it has, you see so many junis with straight trunks . Rod

I don't think dead wood would do this tree justice, it's just not needed in my opinion.

im a bit with jarrod on this one, the tree is good without the deadwood, i like the virt ant did to add it but i think with the way this tree holds itself and the padding makes it for a very nice tree, i can imagine standing next to it like a monster old tree in the wild without the deadwood mate

i will try make it up some time in the near future! will let you know

Sometimes deadwood is used to make something of what maybe weak in the first place. Most of you are confirming what is in the back of my mind as well , the trunk on this tree has strong character. It could be a shame to remove what could be this trees main feature - it`s rugged trunk. Thanks guys Cheers Rod...

Hi Rod,
I love the transformation so far. As for jins and shari I am in two minds.
The tree already has a rugged looking trunk and sometimes we just add jins to junipers because it is the done thing perhaps this tree does not need it.
However the roots are far from perfect, some creative carving could make this area more attractive.
Perhaps wait until the tree talks to you
