How I get hold of this.
so far haven't really got any plans. Something largeish maybe?
Any help and advice would be great

Welcome to Ausbonsai.
Its a bit hard to say what to do from just one pic. I would feed ita nd water it and let it grow for a year or 2 then see what to do.

Gday Ben
And Welcome to Ausbonsai
If you are after something largish you need to just grow it on for a few years. Have a look through the Deciduous section and you might find some good info there that will give you some ideas

Hi Gofish
I have a plan for you. Come spring just as the buds are starting to pop up root the tree and trim the roots. You will want to prune vertical roots and spread out the lateral roots at the base of the tree.
Then chop the tree down to the lowest branches I can see. Choose one to be a new leader and one to be the first branch remove the others and wire into place.
Plant the tree again on the angle and let it grow unhindered. You could plant the tree on a tile to encourage a good lateral root spread and trunk taper.
