Hi everyone,

I am thinking of putting this cedar into a pot like below. Do you like or not? Other options.

Comments and virts welcome. Tree would tilt down a little more I think.

Tree in pot was a black pine loaned to the NBPCA last year by John M.

Great representation of snow bending this gnarly old tree into submission. Works for me too. Great virt.

Thanks Psymo,

Thats exactly what i was thinking. The tree has changed a little since that shot and is a bit sparser and could be angled down at the tip slightly.

Many thanks for the virt; great job.

Hi,

I agree that in this pot the jin will need to eliminated, lightened or altered in some way. That will satisfy some people who haven't liked it all along.

Enough of that Grant. Why not bend it up a bit? so it looks like it was blasted by strong winds, coming round the mountain when she comes   gotta try some humor Grant does
Heat it up with either a piece of cloth soaked in boiling water and wrapped then wired. Or you can heat it with the good old blow torch then clean it up after.

I am sure you know of these techniques Grant, just preempting the questions. Cheers ;) Pup

Ps I do like the new pot I do not think it need any more tilt JMO though

i love this tree grant, i love the progression of it over the years aswell, i think the new cresent pot will work a treat for it aswell! i like the jin too, i wouldnt be changing it, it shows that the tree once stood upright but through its struggling life has become the way it is!

i dont know if you gave dimensions of this tree in the progression but would love to know the size?

I was laughing because the first time I put this tree up on the website the jin copped a caining from some quarters.

It has come full circle now; that is all. As I said it can be eliminated, altered, reduced etc.

Maybe we need an emoticon for a wry smile.

Thanks Pup

I will measure it tomorrow and try to rephotograph it.

I am not allowed to move anything yet as I recover from my hernia operation.

Hi Jamie,

Dimensions are 90cm from left to right including pot and 55cm from bottom of pot to top of jin.
