I thought you might be interested to see my Juniper X Media Pfitzeriana (hope I got that right) "Gold Coast" - I know that is a mouthful. I was told that this var would never make a bonsai. It is growing on a piece of limestone. That is how it looked at AABC 2002. Rod now has it as my balcony does not get enough sun

oh wow brian, i seen this tree a while ago and it was a little bit of a worry, Rod assured me he would be able to get it back to its former glory, such a lovely tree it was and still will be. i actully like it with the very sparse foliage it had when i seen it, i am sure it is fuller now!

now i must ask, where do you get these great rocks to put trees on?

jamie :D

These pics show its early development. The rock was found at an abandoned mine

Sorry - I forgot to mention a sneaky little technique I used. The bottom of the rock was pointed and it wouldn't stand up so I filled a Vegemite lid with Araldite and sat the rock in it thus giving it a base to stand on

great little tip there brian ;) when i seen this tree at Rods it was even barer than the pic in 2000, it looks like it will come back to a great tree! especially seeing where it was. i hope rod could jump on sometime soon when he has gotten back into things and show us how the tree is now.

Hi Jamie

If anyone can restore it to greatness it is Rod. He is one of the top bonsaiists in the country

Really nice tree, it looks great :D an inspiring tree. It has a really great siluete and branching.
May I ask, isnthe trees roots actually clasped to the rock or is the tree just vsitting up against the back of the rock?

Hugh ;)

Hugh

One root clasps the rock in front but the main root is behind the rock
