Present from the birds

This tree was a present from the birds a few years ago. I am not sure but I think it is part of the Melaleuca family ( If I am Mistaken please let me know). I potted it up but never new what to do with it apart from keeping it trimmed every now and again. Since I have been apart of the Ausbonsai community I have learned more than I could have from books as this forum knows our climate and species. I have decided to have a go with the knowledge that I have learnt

This is the tree after a couple in a pot

I notice a good trunk but the tree was too high

I chopped off the top
Then did a bit of wood work

The end result, I think it turned out aright, so thanks for the new found knowledge that I have been given.
Tell me what you think, I am open to new ideas.

Nice stock Put a bit more movement ion the top section above the cut, to make it more symapthetic with the section below woud be good.
The set of branches above the first 2 look weird to me. and if they both come from the same point and make a bar branch.
If so, it might be worthwhile to take off the top above these 2 branches, and then turn one of them up as the new top section?
This would generate some taper in that section of the tree and lower to whole tree a little

Thanks Ken,
You were right, I don't think I can do too much with the leader as it is a little stiff, I think this is what you said, It does look a lot better
thanks

I agree with the previous comments. I would cut the top off and wire the left hand branch into a new leader. This would reduce the overall height of the tree as well as adding continued trunk movement.

Much better

As edard says, I woud consider taking it back to the third branch and using that as the leader
No need to do it now as you can use the current top section as a sacrifice branch
