Friends, I would like to show two kinds of Pithecelobium, now called Cleroleucum.
The first one variety without thorns, which we call female or Female...

The second, a variety most common in the Cerrado biome, Outland-Sertão and the Nordeste Coast.
Here is called: Jurema, Tataré, Jacaré or Dumoso, its scientific name is Cleroleucum Dumoso ...

Hi Luciano,

My son loves Brazilian Rain Trees, and there are a few growing in our region. I currently have custody of 4 seedlings about 20cm high, and he has another 2 (he is away at University, hence me looking after some of his plants). The ones we have are like your second photo with the rounded canopy and lots of branches low down (or will be when they grow). I don't think he plans to bonsai them at this stage, though. Do you have any photos of raintrees bonsaied? He particularly likes them 'natural' = just the way nature grows them.

The shapes of the limbs have a definite tropical feel. I love seeing full size trees in they natural environment
