Buying She Oak/Casaurina

Hi
Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to buy some more advanced she oaks than tube stock, I'm finding it pretty hard to find anything at any nurseries I've been to.
I have seen some brilliant ones for collecting apart from the fact that they are in conservation areas like Boondal wetlands etc or on the side of the road near the airport where you can't even stop without the federal police getting called.
Such a great tree, more people need to get into them, especially bonsai nurseries so we can get some decent stock growing

i dont think the roots are a problem nebari isnt that important is it
just kidding i agree with ant get some tubes for now but as for big stock try comercial growers up here on the coast their every where allmost like weeds but the soil is sandy and they through runners too long try commercial plant growers that specialise in growing for new developments i allso have a contact up here if you get stuck

Ant is spot on, tube stock is the best get all the issues sorted while the plant is young then its plain sailing. These plants thicken very quickly so the advantage of buying more advanced stock is minimal.

I will be getting some tubes to twist up I just have limited space here, if I had it my way I'd get 100 or so, then we'd all have some good stock to work with in a few years.
Was just trying to save some time, I'm always on the lookout for the elusive nurseries that have a heap tucked down the back and forgotton about with gnarled old trunks on them.
Have you got any tips for collecting them? I will be going on a hunt for some in a few weeks i have some promising locations picked out.

Chop back hard now, trench in a month and then collect in spring.Cheers regan

Well, I can save the chopping back step, the sheep just went thru my baby casurina paddock, they've chewed them all down (Sheep love em, why I have no young ones in the grazed paddocks, only this paddock which was blocked off for a few years.) Will try to make some wire cages for the survivors, of course I also want to see some grow to maturity in the paddock, think I can afford to try lifting a couple for bonsai tho.
