Creating a Cedar Raft planting now?

I have just finished building a large 'cedar' grow box in preparation for a 'cedar' raft planting, everythings good to go, except the season!....
I am really tempted to give it a go now :?..... What are the odds of survival if i only minimally disturb the main root ball and keep it in intensive care..
Anyone with experience in such off season procedures??? advice would be great..
thanks

its all bout the after care mate, just remember though that it is coming in to the off season of growth and if it takes will be very slow if not stopped, i dont have much info on cedar as the only one i had carked it for no apparant reason.

personally i would wait. you might get different info that says go for it though!

I have always found early autumn to be a fairly safe season for potting conifers if you are not doing major works. which species is your cedar ?

It had no tag when i got it!.. Iv since been told it is a Cedrus deodara, Himalayan Cedar. My guess 'was' chinese juniper, only for the fact that there was another tree that was similar, with a Chinese juni tag. I'm not even sure why i got it :? .. its really got no hope of being a decent upright! (no taper, lanky, no trunk movement, onesided branches....) what was i thinking ? ... although i'm glad i got It now as it should make a good raft/group planting. :)
Any tips, experience, advise, knowledge?
cheers

iv never posted the pics of this :? there are a couple reasons...
The first being, Id like to know it has survived first! :?
The second, Theres a good chance a cedar (or raft of..) is going to die in my October heat anyway. :? :? :(
..... I will sneak in a third reason and ill say this was and is a complete experiment for me and i wasnt following as many rules as i was just going with my gut.
i still need to learn much more to even understand what i have done :? :P
All i can do now is keep it moist and feed.. all in all, it seems alive and 'on pause', for now :)
large wait on this group!
