As most know? i have recenty moved into a new house after 17 years, and today have finlly finished setting up my benches. A month today since we moved in and only now have been able to dedicate a few hours to the task. So much urgent fixing to do.

I now have 2 sets of benches and both are against the back fence which is on the southern side of the house. They would get full sun most of the day but for some large gum trees in the yard and next door.
On side has shade from the trees most of the day so shodu be great for trees that do not like full sun ( Maples), and the other side of the yard shoud get sun from midday through the afternoon so my pines and natives should be happy there.

They are old Sewer pipes I had lying around after replacing the plumbing at my old house.
Cast a Cement top and bottom on them.
They are different lengths and one has 2 levels as it was a Y type join piece

They work great. look good and are very stable. Only take 2 people to lift them posting.php?mode=quote&f=29&p=2887#"

G'day Ken, nice Jacaranda, i'm trying with 2, difficult trees i think. Have you got any more shots of yours, i'm curious to here your story on it. With mine, they are regular nursery stock. I've been working on one for about 3 years and another for about 1 year. They lose branches very easily and are very thirsty from my experience. nearly every year several branches that I thought were perfectly healthy simply die, and I don;t know why. The trees themselves are growing well, not sure why the die back.

Alas, I will keep trying as they are very beautiful trees.

G,day Ken , looking good. One thing I have found over the years that benches that sit close to fences. Are subject to two things. Reflective heat, also wind swirl.
That is as wind passes over a solid mass as in brick wall solid fence. It swirls in close to the fence giving your trees a warm air bath.
An open structure like I see on top of one fence like a lattice. Helps to direct the wind straight over with out wind swirl.
This I have learnt from experience when we moved to where we are now. I had to find out the hard way, so watch the winds in your new area.
