The tree is 245mm high from base to tip of leaf..width is 245mm from leaf to leaf tip..trunk is 105mm. I did this to show how deceiving photos are and you are right when think, after seeing your post, i thought my tree looked better than that Trees always look better in real time. I am developing this one to match my large Elm for shows. They will be displayed together to show the big and little of Bonsai. Thank you all for your participation.

i got everything right bar being about 50mm taller than the real height

now where pup and noah to confirm there trees?

This one is 6 cm including the pot.4 cm for the tree and 2 cm of pot, the width of the tree is 4 cm the trunk is is 1cm
for the metrically challenged like my self. 1 and half inches tall, the pot is 3/4 of an inch, the width of the tree is 1 and a half inches,
the trunk diameter 3/8 of an inch. I think that is small. I must admit it is a challenge,I wonder some times how i manage with my bloody fat fingers.
I also sadly lost two this size in our recent heat wave one Hokkeido elm was 12 years in training. the Casuarina was 4 years in training.
this one is 4 years in training. I do agree with Bodhi not all tree's photograph well and it can be deceiving, as to hieght that is why I use either a coke can or double A battery for reference.

An excellent job of reducing leaf size Pup. I am still trying to fatten my branches and have not bothered with the foliage yet. To get that reduction you must have to defoliate 2-3 times per growing season or has the tree responded to previous work and doing it on its own.

Bohdi the Hokkeido elm is a natural drawf as far as leaves go I do not defoliate my elms as they reduce well them selves mind you I have never worked with campestris and procera ( English elm ) again the ugly head of common names rear's.

Edit ps the Hokkeido elm was imported 22-23 years ago from Japan (when we still could) as Nire Gayaki it was listed as a type of elm.
I have seen pictures of them as Miniature Bonsai in quite a few books there are some in Kokufu Books and Gaifu ten and Classic Bonsai of Japan.

Hmmm!!!A very desirable Elm indeed. I have known of their existence but have never seen one. Anybody out there have one for sale

When are ya coming to WA I might have some cuttings soon I am going to try some root cuttings from my latest aquisition.
Some airlayer also as it has a lot of wood. If you look in the Evilbay thread you will see it. Cheers Pup

Quite a few small ones here at Yackandandah at the moment. Mostly struck as stem cuttings last winter and this spring. Sorry, no older ones as they sold out at the BSV spring show.

ok the measurements are in and this guy is from top of pot to tip branch apex 170mm
