Hi everyone,

I have one of these growing. I love eucalyptus, and really never had any thoughts originally of turning it into a bonsai. But after seeing Pup's lovely natives and some of the others posted on this site, I am wondering now if it might be possible? Has any one got one of these bonsai or pre-bonsai?

Is it possible that this is E. citriodora (now called Corymbia citriodora)and not 'citrifolia'?

I am growing a specimen of Lemon Scented Gum that I created by twisting a bunch of seedlings together. I'll try to get some pics for you. It's probably not a concern in your part of the world, but Lemon Scented Gums are highly sensitive to frosts/freezing.

It was labelled as a citrifolia, and doesn't have the rough leaves of a citriodora nor the lovely lemony smell. I would love to see your pics, though!

Interesting... I can only find one Google entry that refers to E. citrifolia, and it is in relation to an article about E. ovata. Sounds like you know your Lemon Scented Gums though. Speaking of which, here are some photos of the C. citriodora that I mentioned earlier.

are all those shoots coming off the base ball or are they off the main trunk, hard to see need some more pics.
the branches a just long and need to be harshly dealt with. Juvenile branching as the leaves are off the one stem and no other branching is apparent.
tease the soil top slightly to reveal the base a little more. It will give you a better feel for the main trunk and if there is any movement. I would be removing it a fair bit.

From what I can see above the soil, the shoots come off the base, and the thickest is only pencil thick. I thought it should grow some more before doing anything with? I just wondered if anyone else has tried this species before, and what was the results......
