what type of fertilizer should you use on trident maple and serissa and when should you fertilize them

Use any plant fertiliser as often as you remember during the growing season.
I prefer to alternate different fertilisers so that if one type is not complete, hopefully the others will have any missing elements.
Everybody has their own favorite brands of fertiliser but I think that anyting is better than nothing. Just feed them with anything that is formulated for trees and shrubs or for potted plants if you are buying commercial fertilisers. Something for flowering or fruiting plants is good for flowering/ fruiting bonsai (tomato or citrus fertiliser).
You can use fertilisers at recommended strengths but do not think that twice strength must be twice as good. It may not be and can be detremental and possibly fatal.

I use the following ferts for all my trees,

Established trees - Compact made by Leong from Bonsai South.
Trees i want to grow on - Charlie Carp plus Dynamic Lifter.

I understand that Seasol is like a tonic and not a fertilizer, but is Charlie Carp different ? From some other threads I get the impression that it is a fertiliser. Can someone clear that up for me ?

i too would like to know that as reading on forums there seems to be a few threads with differant thoughts....i was under the idea that they were both the same but seasol was made from sea weed and charlie carp was a fish bi product.....What is the differance?? and is either one better then the other??

Yes charlie is a fert where seasol is not. I use both regularly tho

Thats easy Seasol is a tonic made from seaweed little to no nutrients. Fish emolsion or seasol power feed is an Organic Fertiliser made from fish with Nutrients, Minerals and Trace Elements.

What I would love to no is what gives the best bang for your buck. Or more precise what gives the most nutrient value with the least amount of sodium or are the two directly related. Does it make a difference chemical to organic as far as salt content goes.
Also is seasol very high in salt?

So if i have Powerfeed it would be a waste of time buying Charliecarp ? I mean that they are basically the same - don't need to know one product has .1% difference

I've noticed a lot of books, articles etc recommend low or even zero Nitrogen ferts during Autumn and Winter. I can't remember seeing any that have low rating.

Charliecarp looks to be a lot dearer than Powerfeed especially if you buy the 2l Powerfeed cask.

Manutec Bloom booster is a low nitrogen high P,K fert. I got it to fertilise with during the summer thinking it was a reduction in salt but now I think there is a big possibility I was wrong hence my previous question.

Zero Nitrogen fertilising is practiced in far north Europe,Canada, USA etc where it gets really cold. Not all that relevant for Australia I think.
