First flower after 30 years wait.

Yes, about 30 years until this Chionanthus retusus (Chinese Fringe tree) finally decided to flower. Only a few branches here and there but hopefully it will improve from now on. I have no idea why the leaves are three times the usual size this spring. Defoliation time soon....

They can be very showy when old and the bark develops deep fissures. It's related to olives and ashes.

patience paying off Mike. I would of proberly got the poos by then (waiting a decade for a branch to thicken enough tests me) but imagine it can only get better from here.
