Hi All,

Looking for some advice on my Crepe Myrtle, we have had some hot weather recently and it has become quite stressed.

I have had leaf burn in the past and it was always around the outside edges but this is more inside the leaf near the leaf stem.

Is this an overwatering issue?

I gave it a good seasol soak the day after the hot weather and it had been going down hill for the past week.

Any advice would be great.

Crepe Myrtles love heat so they won't be stressed by that unless they lack water.
I don't know if it has gone without water recently but it sure looks like it. Take it out of the pot and look at the roots. If the tips are white it's a good sign. Look for any mushy rotten areas showing that the mix has broken down taking the roots with it. If not, I would say it suffered from a severe lack of water at some point. If you have many dead roots I would advise repotting into a fresh mix and cutting back all growths to a few good buds. Keep in the shade for a few days after that and then back into the full sun. If you do not have dead roots I would cut back without repotting and wait for new buds to come after which you can begin to fertilize again. Crepe Myrtles should be repotted EVERY year unless they are really big. They like water, fertilizer, full sun and hot weather.

Did you water the leaves when it was super hot or was the hose having some hot water when you watered? Looks like impact of that more than anything else. Most of the leaves will fall off now but you should get a nice crop of finer shoots
