jins, shari and live veins?? advice needed

hey people.

as some of you may know i restyled my juniper in my avatar (see here viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3120&p=33185&hilit ... yle#p33185 ) and as you can see it still needs some more refinement work to the pads and the overall outlook and design, my question is, now i have the jin at the top as it was a major branch in the apex will this create a dead section on the trunk? i know that major branches on junipers are generally feed by a certain root through a live vein, now i was pondering today that the apex/major branch has been removed will the live vein that was feeding it die off and create a natural shari eventually? or will the bark stay on and eventually become wrinkled and dehydrated ? or will it re-route the vein and put it to another branch??

i do like the idea of having a nice shari running down the length of the tree but dont want to try and find it, then mark it out and slice the bark out, if i could wait for it to show up because it has dried out then remove the dead bark that would be great, but i dont know if this would be the case???

any advice and information would be excellent :D

cheers,

jamie :D

so you think it will reroute its flow and wont have any impact on the vein? if that is the case i wont be doing it even though i would like to, i am just not ready to do something like that on this juniper :?

This will require patience, live veins will continue to swell as the tree grows you can create a shari yourself or wait to identify areas which do not swell as much (not live veins) and use these areas to create shari. I always prefer to wait especially when there is nothing obvious.
