Eucalyptus Nicholii - From Tube stock

Eucalyptus Nicholii I got from a friend as a small tube stock in 2021. I can't find any photos of it when it was smaller but it's just been getting up-potted to keep growing so far with some cuts here and there.

Wow, the leaves on yours are huge compared to mine.
Wikipedia says there is quite a varying range of the leaf size.
I do love this species tho. PeterH has a nice one too.
They make excellent bonsai. But over in the Eastern side you have to be very careful with Myrtle rust for this one. It even means you cant heavily cut-back without getting dieback or weakening it when you have extended periods of cooler and rainy months.

Mine has grown like a weed over winter though. It didn’t even realize it’s in winter, it’s just continued to power on.

Hello Pat,

As usual this tree is extremely healthy and obviously loving your care and environment.

Just a quick question:- The leaves on your tree from the photos appear to be in an opposite arrangement. Is it just the juvenile leaves or the whole tree? Maybe the cuts you have done are keeping the tree juvenile? The few eucalypts I've grown have become alternate from a young age.

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm starting to think now that this may not be E. nicholii as I was told. Doing some research it seems even on seedlings the leaves change to alternate very early and are much smaller and different shaped. This tree is currently all opposite Kevin, and I haven't cut it for a decent amount of time. I'll have to wait and see as it progresses but am a little bit dubious.

Just had a search and yes it definitely looks like them. I'll try and identify it correctly and start a new thread for it with the right name. Cheers.
