Here's a maroon bush (Scaevola spinescens) tube stock that I rootpruned and stuck in a small pot. It dropped a lot of leaves at first; Its now been in there for a few months and hasn't done much except grow them back (plus extra). Once the weather cools down a bit I'll prune the tall branch and see if I get any backbudding. I really like the corky looking bark at the base so I hope it can be refined.

I have not seen this species grown as a bonsai so I am curious to see how this shrub develops. Usually you would develop the tree and then pot it into a bonsai pot. As is, trunk growth will virtually stop in a small pot which is fine if you are happy with the trunk girth and shape. If you want to develop the tree faster then you might consider potting it into a larger grow pot.
