Melaleuca alternifolia 1
This was purchased from Bonsai World at Jilliby on the NSW Central Coast.
It has been placed into a very beautiful pot by Esther Griffiths from Walsall Pottery in the UK.
It is a very hardy tree. Beautiful papery bark, and loves having wet feet. No problem with slow drainage, but doesn't like drought.

Placed into a David Jones pot from Walsall.
This is a very thirsty tree, but fairly hardy so I will keep it a bit more shaded against the hot summers.

Could have sworn you’d managed to stretch the previous pot it was in sideways!

Hi Peter, I hope you are going well.
No, I have not had issues with that. I think the full sun burns it away, haha. Seriously though, I don’t recall ever having that.
This melaleuca and all my others absolutely thrive here with full sun.

Just a better pic of the skeleton to see its bones, as it was cut back heavily.
This is definitely my thirstiest tree. At the first sign of a high 30 degree day, it starts to droop and pant.
I love the soft papery bark this species gets. Paper bark Mels are probably one of the most iconic and beautiful bonsai you can grow, as we used to see from all of Pups updates, but when you have one of the Mels that has the soft paper as opposed to the hard or rough paper, its so delightful.
Such a beautiful pot. I love this glaze they do at Walsall
