Hi Everyone

The NBPCA are seeking to purchase Australian made mini bonsai
pots for a future permanent display at the National Arboretum Canberra.

The Miniature Bonsai Pot Acquisition is to encourage
the appreciation of the art of bonsai pottery and to
highlight the beauty and functionality of bonsai pots
even on a tiny scale. The selected miniature bonsai
pots will be displayed in the National Bonsai and
Penjing Collection of Australia.

Australian bonsai potters are invited to submit their work
for appraisal to be purchased by the Bonsai Trust Fund and
displayed at the Collection for its many thousands of visitors
to view.

A panel of judges will select up to 20 pots based on the
challenge criteria.

Selected pots will be purchased from the maker and put on
display in the Collection with a label crediting the potter.

THE CHALLENGE
Create a miniature bonsai pot that has:
• A high level of craftsmanship and skill.
• A maximum size of 10cm (w) x 10cm
(d) x 10cm (h).
• No signs of unintentional cracking or
warping of the ceramic.
• The ability to sit perfectly level on a
flat surface.
• Effective use of drainage and
appropriate tie down holes - is the
bonsai pot practical for housing a
bonsai?
• Either an entirely unique design or
traditional methods of pot making
applied with the artist’s own creativity.
• Effective use of style, shape, glaze,
firing and form that is visually and
aesthetically pleasing.

HOW TO ENTER
• Create a miniature bonsai pot that
meets the challenges (listed above)
• Complete the Application Form
including a short description of the
pot (page 2)
• Email the Application Form along with
photos of all sides, top and bottom of
the pot to: Leigh.Taafe@act.gov.au
• Entries will be judged from the
photos submitted along with the
price and application form

Does that mean we cannot use LEGO bricks to assemble the pots Leigh?

You can use lego bricks, or anything you like, however the selection committee might not select your pot

Hi Everyone

Just keeping this on everyone's radar. We have had submissions rolling in and will continue to accept them right up until 31 January.

Please remember that this acquisition is not the same as the annual pot acquisition prize, this one is not a competition, we are simply seeking submissions of pots that we can purchase in order to create a display that is representative of the Australian Bonsai Potter Community.

Each pot selected will be purchased by the Bonsai Trust Fund.
