Would you dig this hawthorn if you had the opportunity? Keen to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject. I see a couple of big faults but could it become something decent in the future with a bit of work?

Generally I would dig anything, but I would give this a miss.

I have collected similar hawthorns in the past but probably would not do so again.
It's a big tree. Everyone knows they are young and strong but surprisingly we don't stay that way forever. you'll also need a container to grow it in during training then either make or buy a large bonsai pot to show it off in. Prices rise dramatically for larger pots.
Those big, fat branches are going to take some inspiration and work to make them look good after a chop.

Thanks guys. Always appreciate your input. Think I will keep looking around for a different tree. I was on the fence if it would be worth the time but that top section had me stumped.

There's not enough that's interesting in it. Never dig anything you can live without... The yard will fill up soon enough.
