Just rewired and potted this little tree into it's first display pot (after 22 years!)
A bit late/early to pot but I think I'll get away with it if I manage the water.
Pot seems a bit deep to me but I wasn't keen in taking off any more roots than this for now.

Very nice movement in the trunk & branching.

Would love to try growing one of these pines but to darn hot here.

Great little tree! Looks like its own roots too?

Yes own roots. Seed was sown in 2000. The ''tree'' was actually originally the lowest side branch. The rest was too tall and bare - hence the strong bend.
I foresee a time in the future when the long lower branch will come off....Up to it's first branch that is. Not the whole thing!

For me, since the joy of the tree is how the trunk coils its energy up, then shoots off wildly to the right, I'd be very hesitant to lose that extension... It's a strong composition as it is.
Thanks for posting,
Gavin

Thanks Gavin
Thing is though, that trees grow and change and as at some point I will have to balance the mass of the top with the thickness of the trunk - which won't thicken as quickly as the top gains in volume. No rush...
