No idea on the origin, but it looks like the drainage holes were drilled out after the ceramic was fired.

It’s a Ikebana Suiban Vase Pot Planter that someone has drilled holes into. Probably Japanese.

It has no feet either so not the best for draining.

Rub a pencil on some paper over the potters mark and/or use chalk straight on the pot and/or take a photo with the light source pointing across it and the folk here will have a better chance of a positive ID on the maker. Also drainage might be poor but I find as soon as you use wire to tie in your drainage screen or the tree the drainage is fine. A cool and weird pot for sure, thanks for sharing.
It's a very long shot, but the clay and some visible parts of the stamp look similar to Suishoen Hekisui. Do not take that as a positive ID though

Very interesting pot, wish I had some in my yard!
Shape looks like it's straight out of tetris!

So quick update: I found another one on eBay a while back and it said it was of Tokoname origin (that’s nice to know!) The one in the listing did not have holes.
