First beech (Fagus Sylvatica) - with a surprise?

I picked up this beech Fagus Sylvatica (according to tag) from a garden store/nursery and was super happy about its stateliness even in this raw form.

The leaves are creeping out and now I'm guessing it's a Fagus sylvatica purpurea? I've hardly seen a beech in my life (they mostly grow in the southmost part of Sweden) but I'm guessing the leaves should be a bit greener if it wasn't a copper/blood variety..

I'll be following the pruning advice of Harry Harrington with this tree:

Do you guys think I can start this kind of pruning work next year, if it grows well and survives the winter?
