A couple more Mels

Another styphelioides.. It has nice movement. When you initially wire, and cut and wire the seedling, it's hard to see the end result because the tree itself adds a lot in it's own mysterious ways. Which is as it should be.. You only really see it's final form when you get to ramification number 3 or even 4! Here we are barley at number one.

Mel cuticularis... Where it goes nobody knows.. I like this species but it is slower growing and has weaker roots, let alone having budding difficulties.
On the good side, it has the whitest bark of all the mels. Almost luminescent sometimes.

Much nicer foliage on the cuticularis than the styphelioides.

Some great movements you've got going there Mike.

I recall a long time ago in a post far, far away... you commented something about one of species of particular interest to you was Melaleuca halmaturorum

Did you ever give these a go? Are you growing any other Mels.

Yes I did. It is a BASTARD of a thing. Not worth the trouble. Does not shoot back from leafless wood, has very weak roots, doesn't thicken, growth too twiggy. The only way you might succeed with it is to hedge it for 10 years, then try to scrape a tree out of it.

Very nice trunks Treeman, the beginning of two great trees. I love Mels.

And much more natural dramatic movement too. It grows just like this below in a pot without too much encouragement!.....
A wonderful species.

That styphelioides has a trunk to die for Mike - great work :worship:
