Some great trees, and much better in person so make sure you stop by tomorrow if you're a local. I'd like to see some more natives in the future - hopefully I can contribute in a year or five.

Lots of happy snaps, thanks Greg. A lot of good looking trees there the Cape Cotton Bush not a plant I personally am familiar with but some seriously stunning trees. The Peppercorn is outstanding its a wretchedly difficult tree to style with branches dying for no reason. I too love the Plums lovely trees
Well done to all who put this together looks like a great day
And to Greg for sharing
Cheers

I’m with Kirky, the Cape Cotton Bush I know nothing about but the examples here have my interest piqued! Thanks for sharing...

Re: SA Bonsai Society Show 2020 photos
It's a plain old PJ grown from seed I'm pretty sure - nice small leaves though. It was hard to get a good shot of that with my phone as the penjing display is up on a stage with no individual backgrounds for the trees. I'll see if I can get a better photo tomorrow.

Thanks Greg, excellent record of the event and lovely trees! Well done to all involved. I keep coming back to the desert ash, the hollow-trunk olive above it and a number of the cape cottons.

Most of these are Chris Drinkwater's trees. Beautiful trees, of course better in person than in photos. Matt posted a bit of info on this species a while back: https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/forum/view ... hp?t=23065

Re: SA Bonsai Society Show 2020 photos
'Little Ruby' is a selected form of Ficus rubiginosa. I believe it is a dwarf and slow growing form. Like most dwarf forms it has small leaves and short internodes but much slower than the standard type. It's a plain old PJ grown from seed I'm pretty sure - nice small leaves though.
Note that Cape cotton bush is a declared weed in some areas. Maybe we don't all need to seek it out to grow as bonsai.
