Crepe Myrtle

I found this Crepe Myrtle stump 2yrs ago. It had been chopped, poisoned, dug up and been sitting in the summer sun for 2 days, but, there were signs of green. With little hope, I potted it up and put it in the corner of the yard. It’s will to live amazed me. Although most of the thick branches died, it produced A lot shoots from below the soil.

I have slipped it into a different pot so I could see the stump better, done some initial carving and selected some branches. Should be a good long term project.

We’ll see what comes of it in the new season. It produced some wonderful autumn colours, so it will be worth having just for that. I’m not sure how it will go because most of the branches have origins at soil level. Only one thick branch has live veins.
:fc: Time will tell.
