Ok, so this is the first competition I have entered on this forum, so thats a bit exciting, also this is the first time I have attempted a group planting of any description, so double exciting!!!!

I noticed today that there was still time left to enter, so this evening I wandered on down the gully over the road, knowing what I was looking for - I live in Adelaide, so yes, the most abundant of all "pests" - OLIVES!!!

There were all sorts of shapes and sizes, but within 5 minutes I had picked myself 10 quite thin little seedlings (one of thems a bit thicker than the others, but thats alright) and JUST before it got dark outside and JUST before I was eaten completely by mozzies, I popped them all into a pot (not where they will stay, but a pot for now)

Probably due to them all being picked from the steep sides of the gully/creek most of them seem to have this curvy windsweptness to them, which could work.
For now, thats it. Hopefully I havent killed too many of them early by taking too much root off, but they are pretty tough little things, so I'm quite confident that they'll live.

Now I just hope they grow fast enough to become interesting..........

Well done! You're lucky to have such an abundance of "pests" close by. If I had them I would try to make a "Mount of Olives" kind of setting (but no crucifix or figurines) ;)
Cheers, Frank.

Now there's an idea....
Maybe I could have it on an angle, like on the side of a hill - as they were.....

Extreme angle, maybe not sooo extreme, but it's definitly a thought....
Thanks Frank!

Welcome to the competition Juan73870 ... I must say...as bonsai soil mix goes, that's not overly loose... who needs to tie trees in when you soil stays in place when you tip it sideways :?: ;) Enjoy the creative process. Olives are a hardy tree... should be fun to play with.

Haha, a very temporary damp coir mix at the moment, not where they'll be living for long....
