Crepe myrtle question

Hi guys, just wanted some input to hopefully calm the nerves....
I thought it probably doesn't need a photo to clarify, but happy to provide if need be.
My crepe myrtle (diamonds in the dark : red hot) has recently dropped most of its leaves over the past week. I thought "no problem, it's autumn now", but it's all of a sudden started shooting fresh healthy buds all over in the past 2 days.
Is this normal? Or do you think it had a problem and dropped the leaves as a result - not because it's now autumn?
We did have a couple of 30 degree days this past week in Adelaide - had it possibly just become confused with the weather change?
Keen to hear your thoughts,
Thanks 8-)

If you’re weather has been anything like Melbourne and we often get radelaide’s weather - we had a cold snap and now it’s warmed up again, with today rain very humid too. I’m confused and I reckon some of my trees are too. Others with more experience and horticulture knowledge will be better placed to answer your question but I reckon -all is fine. Keep moving, nothing to see here - plant is confused - all good.

I doubt the tree is confused. Trees do not lose leaves because they are confused. Far more likely it dried out too much on one or more of those hot days and shut off the leaves to survive.
Need to monitor water more closely as the weather changes in spring and autumn. Root bound trees become far more of a challenge to keep watered as there is less space for the water to get into the root ball.
