Melaleuca Nodosa back budding?

Hey all,
Does M.Nodosa back bud for bonsai? My area is full of them (and I've grown quite fond of them) and I am interested in collecting a couple. If they don't back bud it will change my plan of attack for collecting. May just air layer a couple in stead.
Thanks,
Matt

I have not had experience with M. nodosa so can't offer first hand advice but it will be relatively easy to find out. Just go out and prune a couple in situ. At this time of year new buds should start to grow in just a couple of weeks if they do back bud.

Shibui,
Thankyou for your reply. You always seem to be free with passing on your knowledge on this site. It is appreciated as i am a gardener first and relatively new to bonsai. I use ausbonsai as my main learning source, my main interest is natives.
Thanks
Matt

You are all welcome to the store of experience I have accumulated. Some of it may even be accurate. Hope you will also share whatever pearls happen to come your way. I will be interested to hear how this species responds.

So I had a window with the weather to collect this plant so I did.
As a study this plant has 3 main branches.
First thing I did was get rid of unwanted crossing branches. Then I have tip pruned all foliage of 1 branch, drastically pruned the branches of 1 branch, and left 1 branches foliage as is.
I will learn as I go.
Will let you know the results. ImageImage
