What is this weed?

I dug this plant from the side of a road near my place just because it has some funny movements in lower trunk. At first I thought it's casuarina or she oak. The bark and leave look like it sis from a distance but at a close up it's not. The soil is very dried and I couldn't get much of feeder roots, just the big ones. It is now in water waiting to be potted. Could some1 provides me with some ID please?

Looks like spanish (hmmm?) box to me...

I think you're close Asus, I would guess Spanish broom, or some other broom. A clue could be the gummy white sap of brooms - which is irritant and potentially poisonous, so try not to get it on your skin or eyes.
