Hi all,

So out and about today and found a nice little chinese elm (sorry didn't take before pictures). As I was repotting it as it came from a commercial joint and had new growth sprouting so seemed healthy, I noticed some oddly placed roots that were higher and at randoms spots. The main roots were so long it wrapped around the pot 4 times in length. The rest of the root system was already in a wonderful radial pattern so I was wanting to graft those odd roots into the missing sections of the radial roots. So I did that.
I carved a shallow wedge out the trunk where I wanted the new root and used a small staple bent into a short prong to become my anchor. It was pretty easy to push into the trunk, just hand to jungle the tree and the root in one hand and press with the other.

They seem pretty solid and fixed on the trunk, I used rooting hormone on 2 places and 1 without the hormone.

Then I repotted into a bigger pot than it came with but keeping it Shohin sized.

First time doing this so fingers crossed I get one of the roots to hold.
