Finally got to fire the new kiln

I finally have found the time to fire the new kiln. I slept at the shop because I didn't want to leave it for the first firing in case something happened. All went well,so now I havea few pots to show. Hopefully after this weekend with John Hanby, I can get to and make a lot more pots and stop gadding around. I have just come back from a great 4 days of pottery seminar on the Sunshine coast, staying at a similar place as the Tops weekend. Some friends came from Sydney and we had a great few days.
Now some photos.

Very Nice Lynette. How long does your firing take to have to sleep over night. I think we fire ours for about 8 hours.

I can't wait to make it up that way to have a look at the new shop :)

Just a couple more and then I have to go and pack for Sydney. Is anybody else going on Sunday.
Most of these pots were glaze or clay trials, I now have access to a much varied lot of clays.I musst have had a bit to much jin(gin) for lunch, ones on a bit of an angle.

Very Nice Lynette!

Do you fire gas or electric?

I am very much in favour of the departure from traditional shapes and glazes which seem to be adopted by Oz potters. When I see something extraordinary over here, I am immediately attracted to it. Most of our potters are more traditional but some have branched out recently.
I was looking at Keith's blog just now and was most impressed by the new thinking displayed. Having a unique glaze in my posession from 'you know who' I'm getting there.

Hello Kitoi,
It is an electric kiln, our governments stimulus package gave business 50% back for purchases, so it was more economical to get a new electric kiln than do the repairs that were needed to the gas one after the move.

The local pottery supply place is called the clay shed 5476 5977, they may be able to put you in touch with some potters. I don't have any details of people I met.
