Melaleuca rhaphiophylla Tanuki

This little tree has suffered quite a lot in its life. As you can see it is hollow. When it was collected 5 years ago it had a lot of potential. It was flourishing, then for some unknown reason it just started dieing off.

As the description for this species is tree and or scrub, I did not touch it other than to put it in a nursery pot. In Akadama and then left it . When we got back from our holidays at the end of June I noticed this little sucker on the side. So I treated it like all other cuttings.

This is the result I have potted it up and now wait for more development. This question has been posed before.

Is this a Tanuki ( phoenix graft ) wrap around. remember it is its own root system. Although the stump might rot completely one day.

pup,

i dont think this would be considered tanuki or phoenix as it is a sucker from the same original tree. i wouldnt know what to call it but i wouldnt call it tanuki :D
its got some great potential and will very soon tell a story one would think :D
