What Pine is this?

I am thinking this is the same as No# 2 but that can't be right?

this one is monterey.

because your asking, I think it might be jack pine, its no more than a guess.

It looks very similar to a $5 pine that I bought from a local forestry nursery that I now wnat to know what it is?

I am pretty sure this is a Pinus halipensis or Allepo pine or Lone pine.

Hi Grant an alleppo pine is 2 needle pine however they do sometimes have 3 on some areas of the tree .How many needles does this one have .

The cones on the more mature ones nearbye are a giveaway for Halepensis. Orange and droopy, colour light and needles limey green

Very common in NSW from wagga west and a weed in SA. Doesn't like humidity and so goes OK in Canberra.

An underused pine in my opinion and readily available around some parts of Australia. Doesn't do well in humid places like Sydney seaside.

Would replace Radiata in very dry areas like Hay, Mildura etc. Buds back freely. Going feral at the seaside in SA.

I have a very small one growing here from seed
Seeds came from Steven which I have had one germinate so far.

At the war memorial in Hyde Park the lone pines are in very poor condition and I put it down to Sydneys climate.

They are a Mediteranean pine that lives near water and does quite well in gry places also. Sydney seems too wet and humid.

That pic was from Port Elliot where the pine has displaced casuarina, banksia and others as the coastal plant. Do not dig there.

The SA peolpe say there are places on the other side of the gulf where it is a weed and being erradicated. It is a declared noxious weed in SA. They do Olive and Ash digs at there conventions; maybe it is time to organise a Pine collecting dig with a local?
