Intensive Trident rescue work

One of my long -term projects to finish up 2017. This one has interesting roots but a few problems as you can see.Prompted me to do some thread grafts using the very pleasing strong new season growth - the photos I hope will tell you more than I can find the words for.
I am hoping to keep this as a very compact tree in order to stay in the beautiful Penny Davis pot that you see it in now.
