Found this pest sucking on my zelkova - can anyone identify?

Sure that's a Zelkova? It has beautiful leaves whatever it is.

You are correct on the tree ID, i got carried away - it's a european hornbeam

Yes hornbeams are very nice. Not enough around IMO
Confidor works well on mealies.
