Just thought I would share some wonky photos of the West Australian show as we were setting up. I hope you enjoy as much as I did. That it for now the Pup is pestering for his walk he missed out the last two days.

It looks like it will be humdinger of a show. Have never heard of a Bunjingi before. Can you describe the requirements for that to me please Pup. Ta

Bunjingi is the Japanese term for Literati.

The Guide lines for creating Bunjingi ( Literati) are.
The trunk should be thin with minimal taper, withe very few branches. The style usually has has Ochieda ( a long hanging branch ) with strong down ward movement
and steps or layers of foliage. Bunjingi Looks Better with a slightly slanting trunk. There are few branches in the lower parts of the trunk line. If however one is needed
for balance or to improve the styling OK. Only a very small branch is used though.

They are usually potted in shallow round pot's the soil can be mounded. The traditional Bunjingi pots were the lids of food storage jar's.
Free style pots are excellent for Bunjingi. There are no sub classification's of the style. It is Bunjingi.

However there are some who will say , this is a formal upright, or cascade or slanting or any of the other styles. That is wrong it is Bunjingi ( Literati ) full stop.

I hope this has explained it Bohdi so when the comp starts you and all others will know my view's on the style.
A very happy but tired Pup won two raffle prizes at the show. Both were to monogramed Glasses and two bottles of Plonk hic hic .

Thanks for that detailed explanation Pup. The cure for that tiredness would be to drink the said plonk and early to bed. I have a very old tree that i am going to post and i would have called it Literati but according to your explanation it wouldnt seem to fit into that category. It would be interesting to put it up and start the debate going. What do you think.

Bodhi if you want to enter the contest do not post it as the judges will then have to disqualify it. If you are not going to enter by all means.
There is a lot of conjecture on this style.
As they have said the ( master's as we westerner's ) call them. Say that when you have perfected Bunjingi you have created perfection.
That is why every one is still trying to get it right. There were times over the weekend when I was looking at one in particular. It is a native that I thought now that is it.Then I looked at the pot, and one tiny twig out of place. It was discussed with the owner who agreed to a possible, one of PK's pot's and the offending twig be gone .

I will the offer a trade of one of mine that is covert id by the owner

As for the plonk I might wait for some fellow Sandgroper's or honorary ones to come calling.

No it was not going to be entered.Wrong pot as i am trying to get it healthy(it was nearly dead)Roots to exposed etc etc.but it would cause a lot of conversation.

Pup the bungingi was really nice but the Melaleuca was exceptional. A front view would be really good if you can.

Ash unfortunately one of the big spotlights was situated directly behind it causing to much noise in the camera. That is why there are to shots from the side. I have edited some more pics so I will post some more. As I said it was juast prior to opening and we still had to get every thing done.

looks like its gonna be a good show pup!

on another note i just purchased Craig Coussins masterclass and noticed a little cameo in there with some very nice trees, i think they were a mr. and mrs. Pup

if i am not mistaken any ways well done

The big problem for the rush was there was a mistake made on the opening time. For Saturday we usually open at 10 am so that gives us time to wright the labels. for the tree's make sure each tree is on a stand or mat and has the right accent. Unfortunately the printer got it wrong and put 9 am so we had less time. Any way we just got it but my pics suffered I eventook a tripod this time. Did not get to use it though. I have often thought about doing a diosma because of the great compact and tiny foliage but never thought it could be convincing due to the skinny trunks, that one above is excellent though.
