Aluminium tape for healing large cuts

Has anyone tried using adhesive aluminium tape for healing cuts before? I was reading another site that suggested you could heal a chop in half the time with no bulge but cutting the branch off flat, not concaving it out, then app,Yung this adhesive aluminium tape. Unsightly but the scar looked fantastic.
I'm not sure I'm allowed to post links to other sites on here, but if I am to show you what I'm talking about, let me know!

Yes in Adelaide now.
Here's the link, scroll down to pruning, in that section there's a photo of this aluminium technique and the result.

I was in Japan over Christmas, made the time to visit a few nurseries. I saw the foil technique being used on trees there but don't believe it was an actual tape that they used.

I've seen other reports of using other materials to cover cuts on trees. I suspect it does not matter what you use, more likely that keeping the wound from drying out is what is important to healing.
Time to try some different modern materials and see what works

Shunkaen Bonsai garden - Currently Kobayashi uses aluminium foil extensively at his nursery on deciduous and satsuki.
Good enough for me to have a crack.

He applies a brown paste (I assume similar to a cut paste) then places the aluminium over the top. I was talking to one of the Western apprentices and he said it keeps the heat in helping the wound heal faster.

Magpie's seem to love picking at foil here, although I think it was mating season so they were all on heat and goofing around.
My curiosity and impatience would see me continually checking to see if was healing ok and or no pests etc residing in it.
