I have had this English Elm for quite a long time now and I am considering changing the planting angle, but I would like your thoughts and ideas if you don't mind. I have until August to make up my mind because it will be re-potted then.
Thanks in advance.

I assume you wil bring the apex back over the top of the trunk after repottiong? If so then I agree with the Change

I was thinking more slanting than informal upright?

If you are going to change it, why not create some real tension?
Great tree by the way.

I think either leave it or go further like deliseas virt. Either way great tree, the bark on the trunk looks great.

Cheers,
Pearcy.

Another vote for further. If you lean it over quite a long way, the right "branch" becomes a continuation of the trunk line, and the composition becomes much stronger. Vertical, its just a long trunk with nothing happening, then a flurry of branches all at once. Lovely tree if you lean it.

Thanks for the thoughts and the virt. Looks like a major change coming up in August. I will up-date then.

Nice tree Watto.

I agree with the further lean, that way the strong change in direction of the apex makes more sense.

Matt.
