What cut paste are you using?

I have been using this cut paste (see below), though I'm not sure I'm particularly pleased with the way it dries and seems to stick to the cut area. It looks almost like a silicon and appears to adhere to the wound like silicon, too. I don't have the experience to see what the outcomes long term, so I have to ask, will the paste eventually wear off or fall off when the wound heals? Or do you need to pick it off once the wound has sufficiently healed?

I'd love to find out what you're using (brands etc.) and what your long term maintenance is of the wound, whether you need to remove the paste or wax or whether it falls off as the wound heals.Image

I really like this stuff. As the callous rolls over the paste comes away. Some people double seal applying this one first before applying the putty on top.

Just make sure you don't use this on any softwood trees (figs etc) as it will stain them. Putty is best on these.

Cheers,
Pearcy.

I'll have to give it another go. Perhaps I applied too much when first using it?

Yeah I don't like that brand. Stains. I like the fluoro green tube stuff.

I have never used any cut paste as such , if or when I need to seal a wound I use Selleys "no more gaps " it an acrylic water based sealer that works a treat and on small and large areas , cost's around $3 per tube and available at any hardware . Some gap sealers are available in various colours , if that's an issue

x2, this is all I use as i like the way it dries clear and dark.

the bark just rolls over it and you would never know it was there and trees can be displayed with it on and not detract from the appearance.

Never had any issue with it being sticky :lost:

x3 although I've never used anything else. Whatever doesn't get sealed within the wound, you can just peel or pick off at a later date. It just seals the wound really well.

Ken,
This stuff stick to everything  I spent a good few hours getting it off my hands on the weekend.

This is why I don't like that stuff. Just about every tree I've used it on, it leaves this mess, like it has petroleum jelly in it or something:

That's a bougainvillea, but it did it to my swamp cypresses also.

I first tried that and decided I prefer the tube as the OP showed.
Much nicer finish on the tree IMHO

That happens when you apply it while the cut is still extremely fresh, you need to wait a little bit for the sap to stop flowing.

Ok thanks. I didn't think they were particularly sappy plants? It never flows when I cut them? Or does it and just no obvious until the paste goes on?
