Hi All,

I started using the osmocote outdoor fertiliser a couple of weeks ago but feels like it isn't strong enough. Should or Can I use liquid fert let's say every week and slow release every two weeks ? Can I also keep doing this throughout autumn?

It's hard to give advice as there are many questions I have having read your post.

What stage are your trees at for you to ask about fertilising?

If you want to push growth on younger trees feed heavily all year round.

If you have mature trees fertilise according to a seasonal regime.

You shouldn't need to apply slow release that often - if it's dug into the soil it will last a few months.

Liquid fertilise as often as you want.

Just remember to water lots either way to help the roots take it in.

Thanks mate. I will have a look at the video. My trees are fairly young and I am still just trying to get good trunk thickness, nebari and strong roots. Some have been hard cut to get more branches on lower parts or the branches were getting as thick as the trunk etc.

I don't see too much growth on them and i felt like now is the time probably only this one month to encourage some growth before autumn and winter. All my trees are decidious.

Hmm are you saying even though my Amgrow Nitrosol says to only feed once per month for example. i can feed far more often?

I thought over feeding could burn the root zone hmm

It depends what you are trying to do.

If you have a young tree you are trying to promote trunk growth, height etc and you are watering your tree heavily you should be feeding more than the recommended amount and frequency.

There is a lag time before osmo starts to work. The prill must first absorb water and the contents dissolve before it begins to leach out. Wait a little longer and you will start to see results. Use the directions on the packet for quantity to apply. You can give a quick boost with Liquid fert. Never give controlled release ferts (osmo etc) more often than that recommended. (usually every 3 to 9 months)
