Hi everybody
I have a Mel nesophila in my yard that I want to airlayer , but there isn't much information about them. I did find an old post by Pup where he said that nesophila doesn't backbud , the question I'm asking then is, am I wasting my time in trying to layer a branch on this tree. Thanks in advance
Cheers

The only thing anyone can say is "I tried & I failed", never ever accept that it cannot be done, only that that person has not succeeded in their attempts.
So..
Give it a go & let us know, now is the perfect time to layer natives :aussie:

Why not layer some smaller braches with leaves closer to the base? It should layer easily as it strikes from cuttings quite well. I have had budding on bare wood but not more than 12 months old.

Thanks mike , I'll try both in that case. I'll try do a thicker branch as J/J said nothing ventured nothing gained and I'll try some smaller branches closer to foliage :tu2: :fc:

Maybe try cutting a thick branch back to see if it will bud. If it does, layer.
